The Infusion Nurses’ Society has recently updated its’ Standards of Practices to reflect current infusion and vascular access practices. Lisa Gorski, chairman of both the 2011 and 2016 INS Standards of Practice Committee, presents a two part program that updates the Vascular Access clinician as well as any individual responsible for the care and maintenance of Vascular Access Devices. The 2016 Standards of Practice reflect updated practice criteria that have been evaluated based on strength of evidence. 

Ms. Gorski reviews in depth two of the new section topics: Infusion Therapy Practice and Vascular Access Device Management during these two-part education webinars.



This module would be relevant for healthcare professionals in any care setting with an interest in fundamental best practices for IV site care.

  •   Identify the four new infusion standards of practice
  •   Describe a strategy that can be used to integrate and implement the standards of practice for clinical setting(s).

Clinical Nurse Specialist, Wheaton Franciscan Home Health & Hospice, Milwaukee, WI. Lisa Gorski is a former INS president (2007-2008) who served on the INS Standards of Practice Committee in 2006 and chaired the 2011 committee. She is the author of more than 50 journal articles and has authored several books on the topic of infusion therapy. She is a frequent speaker, both nationally and internationally, on standards development, home health care and infusion therapy.
